What Happens During an AEROSEAL Duct Sealing Appointment?

You may have heard about AEROSEAL duct sealing, but you are hesitant to make an appointment. You don’t know if it is worth your time and money, or if it is right for your home. At Mid-Florida Heating & Air, we want you to know what to expect from AEROSEAL duct sealing. It includes how it works, so you can enjoy the benefits of more efficient, cleaner air ducts in your Florida home.

What is AEROSEAL Duct Sealing?

AEROSEAL duct sealing is a service that we provide to seal all the small gaps and holes in your ductwork. Ductwork is generally designed to be out of your view, so you don’t usually think about it. However, if there are gaps at the joints or tiny holes that have grown over the years, the air that is supposed to be flowing into your home is escaping through the holes. In fact, up to 40% of your air could be escaping, which means your climate control system is working harder to cool or heat your home. If your AC can’t keep your house cool enough, and your HVAC is well-maintained, you may have a ductwork problem.

Besides making your system less efficient and increasing your energy costs, holes in your ductwork also allow dirt and dust into the system. These get blown into the air you breathe. It can make your home dirtier and introduce allergens, such as dust and mold spores, into your living spaces. What to expect from AEROSEAL duct sealing when combined with air duct cleaning is that it keeps your air cleaner and healthier.

How Does AEROSEAL Duct Sealing Work?

After an initial review of your HVAC system, we will set up an appointment for your duct sealing process. The AEROSEAL duct sealing process is non-intrusive. This means we do not have to cut holes into your walls or floors to access your ductwork. Instead, we create a temporary access point into your ductwork, attach flexible plastic tubing to it, and spray the AEROSEAL duct sealant formula into your ductwork. Before we put the formula into your ducts, we will carefully block your vents and protect your HVAC system. The air inside your ducts will be pressurized and monitored by our computers as we spray the liquid formula inside. The tiny particles of adhesive go into the pressurized air and naturally seek out small gaps and openings. When they touch the edge of a gap, they stick to it, and other particles stick to them until the gap is completely sealed.

As the holes in your ductwork fill up, smart technology measures the air pressure inside. The pressure will drop until the ducts are all sealed, allowing us to know when it is finished working. We will show you the results in real time, and you will receive a certificate of completion showing the before and after statistics.

The AEROSEAL formula is non-toxic. It is made out of the same material used in chewing gum and baby pacifiers. You can be confident that our duct seal process is safe for your home.

Cleanup is fast and easy. The entire process is over in just a few hours.

Do My Ducts Need Cleaning?

Air duct cleaning pairs well with the AEROSEAL duct sealing process. Getting the dirt and dust cleaned out of your ducts not only keeps your air cleaner and healthier, but it also makes your HVAC system run more efficiently. This means you could lower the cost of cooling your home and prevent your AC from overworking.
